Over $30,000 Raised for Hospice

On Wednesday, June 21, members of the central Vermont community, with CVHHH staff, management, and board members, gathered at the Country Club of Barre for the 21st Annual Hospice Memorial Golf Tournament & Silent Auction. This was a record year for the tournament, with over $30,000 raised in sponsorships and donations. All proceeds from the event will support CVHHH’s hospice program.

“Thank you to all of our generous sponsors,” says Kim Farnum, Manager of Community Relations & Development. “We had an incredible amount of support from our community again this year, especially our dedicated volunteer planning committee chaired by Rachael Richards with Eddie Rousse, Steve Connor, Judy Guild and Danielle Hampton, PT. All of us at CVHHH are so grateful.”

CVHHH would like to recognize this year’s sponsors: Tournament Sponsors Employee Sponsored Programs, LLC and Granite Financial Group; Hospice Memorial Sponsor, Bonnie Chouinard, in loving memory of Barry Chouinard; Dinner Sponsor, UVMHN-Central Vermont Medical Center; Entry Gift Sponsor, Capitol Plaza; and Golf Cart Sponsor, Maple Capital Management. Twenty four teams participated. This year’s event included the new Pink Ball Contest and another chance to Beat the Kid, U-32 eighth grader Riley Richards, who raised $775. The evening closed with a catered barbecue dinner and awards ceremony.

Sandy Rousse, President & CEO, welcomed the crowd, saying: “We have the ability to touch the lives of those we care for today, and to provide for those we will care for in the future.” Jewelene Griffin, RN, Hospice & Palliative Care Manager, added: “Hospice helps patients achieve their goals, remain in their home setting, and have their pain and symptoms managed.” Bill Patno, CVHHH board member and tournament sponsor with Granite Financial Group, took the first swing of the day after saying a few words to the crowd: “When care is provided at home, it is often more cost effective and beneficial to the patients. CVHHH provides services that are critical to this community.”
