Sandy Rousse Talks Home Health Care with WDEV’s Mike Smith

Thank you to the whole WDEV team, especially to Open Mike host Mike Smith, for hosting our CEO Sandy Rousse, with VNAs of VT Executive Director Jill Mazza Olson in early October.

We talked with Mike about the range of services that CVHHH provides to central Vermonters of all ages, from in-home support for new moms and babies to physical therapy for people who have had joint replacement surgery to hospice care for individuals and their families. We also talked about how we use technology in the home to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and closely monitor our highest-risk patients.

Finally, we talked about the ways in which home health, statewide, fits within the larger health reform movement. By shifting care from the most expensive, to the last expensive, setting–the home–we can help save critical health care dollars while empowering individuals to take ownership over their health care and maintain something we know they cherish–their independence.
