Julie Gregonis, RN, Named March Above & Beyond Winner

We are pleased to announce that Julie Gregonis, Team A RN, has been named Above & Beyond Award winner for March. CVHHH gives out the Award monthly to celebrate the outstanding work of one employee on behalf of CVHHH staff, the agency, or the central Vermont community. Julie was nominated by her colleagues, who said: “Julie is always willing to help her teammates and has a positive attitude, especially when it comes to inviting people to shadow her in the field.” Here is Julie, left with Cheryl LaFrance, SVP and Chief Operating Officer of Northfield Savings Bank, at our March Community Visit Day.

Julie got her start in long term care at a nursing home in the Northeast Kingdom where she worked as a staff nurse and manager. She decided to transition to home health care to work with patients in their home settings and to gain a deeper understanding of how a person’s lifestyle choices can affect their overall health. “Working in long-term care helped me appreciate the importance of being able to spend time with clients and of letting each person describe their story in their own words. I am interested in narrative medicine and believe that each patient plays a great role in their recovery process.”

Julie is interested in the role that health basics like a good diet, adequate sleep, stress relief, and gentle exercise have on a person’s overall health. When she is working with her patients, she makes careful suggestions tailored to each person’s circumstances and ability. “I listen for the places where my patients feel motivated and able to improve their health, and I am never judgmental. I truly enjoy the patients, the other nurses, and the community members who I meet every day.” Julie is enjoying restoring her home in Hardwick and looks forward to joining her local community garden.
