New Hospice Medical Director Named

Charles D. Hackett, MD, MPH Joins Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice as Hospice Medical Director

Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) is pleased to announce that Dr. Charles Hackett has recently joined the organization as its new Hospice Medical Director.

In this role, Dr. Hackett will be an integral part of the CVHHH hospice program’s clinical operations and bring a wealth of experience to the organization.

Sandy Rousse, CEO of CVHHH, stated, “I am delighted that Charlie has joined our hospice leadership team and is so enthusiastic about helping our hospice staff to provide Central Vermonters the very highest quality of care and experiences that this tremendous program can offer.”

Most recently, Dr. Hackett was the Hospice Medical Director for Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice of Rhode Island, the Chief of Family and Community Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Brown University.

Some of the key functions of Dr. Hackett’s role will include:

  • Ensuring 24-hour availability of physician coverage
  • Providing consultation and support to the hospice care team and referring physicians, as needed, regarding medical interventions consistent with patient and family wishes, as well as hospice philosophy and plan of care
  • Acting as a resource to the hospice staff, patients, family members, and attending physicians regarding pain and symptom control measure
