Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) invites recent nursing school graduates and nurses with experience in other clinical settings to apply for the agency’s new Nurse Residency program. Based at CVHHH’s Headquarters in Barre, this six-month program will provide one-on-one training and education, skill-building, and supervised in-person care delivery to help enrollees prepare for a career as a home health registered nurse.
Home health nurses provide medical care to people in the comfort and safety of home. This unique setting allows patients and clinicians to work together to create goals of care, provide services that meet patients’ individual healthcare needs and lifestyle, and empowers patients to take an active role in their healthcare.
Nurse-Residents will be paired with a dedicated preceptor, a nurse experienced in home health who will offer guidance and oversight in hands-on care delivery and the management of chronic conditions in patients’ homes and care facilities.

This program is funded through a Vermont Rural Health Transformation Program (RHT) grant awarded to CVHHH. The RHT Program is a federal initiative aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and quality in rural communities across the country. To this end, the goal of Vermont’s grant – and CVHHH’s participation – is to build stronger rural health networks, strengthen the rural health workforce, and ultimately ensure that Vermonters receive the right care at the right time for an affordable cost.
