2026 Nurse Residency Program
Become a Nurse-Resident at CVHHH
As a CVHHH Nurse Resident, you’ll build meaningful relationships with patients while developing advanced clinical skills and confidence in one of healthcare’s fastest-growing settings. Based at CVHHH’s Headquarters in Barre, this six-month program combines one-on-one training and education, skill-building, and in-person care delivery to help you prepare for your career as a home health registered nurse.
CVHHH’s Nurse Residency Program is designed for recent nurse graduates and nurses new to home health care who want a supportive transition into professional practice. Nurse Residents will be matched with an experienced Nurse Preceptor, who will provide personalized training and education and supervise Nurse Residents while they care for patients at home. Nurse Residents will receive additional peer support through a statewide cohort of Nurse Residents from Visiting Nurse Associations (VNAs) across Vermont.

What is Home Health Care?

In this setting, we can create goals of care and provide services that meet their unique healthcare needs and lifestyle and incorporate them into their daily lives. This helps patient maintain their independence and stay connected to the people and routines that give their lives meaning.
The Nurse-Residency Program empowers Nurse-Residents to build valuable hands-on skills beyond the walls of a hospital or facility setting. Participants will apply classroom concepts with patients in their homes and at care facilities across Central Vermont, with one-on-one guidance and mentorship from an experienced Nurse Preceptor.
