Hospice Volunteering

Volunteers are an integral part of hospice at CVHHH. By sitting with patients, providing companionship, running errands (including picking up and delivering flowers for hospice staff to bring to patients), and relieving caregivers, volunteers make it possible for CVHHH to deliver the compassionate, holistic care that is a hallmark of our hospice program. Experience with hospice or health care is not required. All that’s needed is a caring, can-do attitude and willingness to help make a difference for someone nearing the end of life.

Office & Community Volunteering

Several community members volunteer in our office and provide clerical support. This assistance is immensely helpful and appreciated.Tasks vary depending on need and can include the following:

  • Filing medical records documents
  • Assembling mailings and information binders for patients
  • Supporting our Community Relations & Development team with mailings, phone calls, and collecting signatures for annual town funding requests
  • Making phone calls and other tasks to support our Quality team
  • Help check patients in at flu vaccine clinics

"To provide dignity and empathy to our fellow human beings hopefully gives light, love, and peace to our world. This is what hospice does, and to be part of this means so much to me."

“Hospice conveys a message of compassionate support – not only to the family being served but to the entire community: We take care of one another and we support one another, particularly when that support is most needed and appreciated.”
