Family Center of Washington County is CVHHH’s 2022 Community Partner of the Year

Family Center of Washington County is a close partner of CVHHH’s Maternal-Child Health team of registered nurses and lactation consultants, who collaborate with Family Center staff regularly to ensure that new and expectant mothers, children, and families in Central Vermont have the supports they need to thrive. We are proud to recognize the Family Center as CVHHH’s 2022 Community Partner of the Year.

“We have worked to foster the relationship with CVHHH and to be intentional about how we see the scope of available services from CVHHH and the Family Center helping our families,” said Claire Kendall, Family Center Co-Executive Director.

The Family Center is one of 15 designated Parent-Child Centers in Vermont. “We are a resource center, and we provide an array of programs and services to our community. The overarching goals are to build resourceful families and healthy children for a strong community.” The Family Center serves all of Washington County.

Michelle Dane, RN, CLC, oversees CVHHH’s Maternal-Child Health program. “We collaborate with the Family Center in a number of ways, including to make sure local families who need more social supports get what they need, to distribute ‘Welcome Home Baby’ bags for women who give birth at CVMC, and to provide items such as diapers, baby wipes, winter jackets, and vaccinations.”

“We want to strengthen caregiver bonds and help parents to improve their knowledge of child development, grow their confidence and competence as parents, and encourage positive emotional growth for the family unit. We also help with concrete skills such as crisis management, budgeting, and building a network of support,” says Janine Gallagher, Youth and Family Services Director for the Family Center.

Every year, CVHHH names an individual, family, or local business as its Community Partner of the Year for going above and beyond to support CVHHH’s mission and work in Central Vermont.
