Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) extends a warm welcome to Dr. Alyson Emmons-Abbruzzi, DO, the agency’s new Medical Director for Home Health, Hospice, and the Palliative Care Consultative Service. Dr. Emmons-Abbruzzi succeeds Dr. Anthony Williams, who served as CVHHH’s Home Health Medical Director for over a decade.

Board-certified in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care, and as a hospice medical director, Dr. Emmons-Abbruzzi serves as the Regional Medical Director, Northeast, for Compassus Hospice. Previously, she worked as the lead physician for the Inpatient Palliative Care Service at Inspira Health Network/Palliative Care. Dr. Emmons-Abbruzzi holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She joined CVHHH in the summer of 2025 as the Hospice Medical Director.
In her expanded role, Dr. Emmons-Abbruzzi will work closely with CVHHH leadership, home health and hospice team clinicians and managers, and with CVHHH’s palliative care nurse practitioner, to provide broad clinical guidance and to support CVHHH to achieve its clinical quality and patient satisfaction goals. She will also provide education and resources on home health, hospice, and palliative care services and eligibility to ensure seamless and timely transitions of care for Central Vermonters.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Emmons-Abbruzzi to CVHHH!” says Sandy Rousse, CVHHH President and CEO. “I am confident that her leadership ability and wealth of experience caring for patients in palliative and hospice care will enable us to better support Central Vermonters and their families,” she says.
