CVHHH Chats with WDEV about our COVID-19 Response

Katy Leffel, RN, IBCLC, our Maternal-Child Health Manager, has been instrumental in ensuring that the pandemic-related needs of all Central Vermonters, including homeless individuals, are met. In addition to overseeing the care of pregnant women and new moms and babies, Katy took the lead in distributing free, restaurant-prepared frozen meals to families in our community via the Vermont Everyone Eats Program. Since last July, CVHHH’s nurses and other staff have delivered 10,000 meals to Central Vermont families. Recently, Katy collaborated with colleagues at Good Samaritan Haven and People’s Health & Wellness Clinic, both in Barre, to set up free, pop-up COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinics for homeless Central Vermonters. To date, over 70 homeless individuals were vaccinated against COVID-19.

Listen to Katy’s conversation Monday, 5/10 with Ric Cengeri on WDEV’s Vermont Viewpoint show. Katy is joined by Emily McKenna, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at CVHHH, who talks about CVHHH’s broader pandemic response, including partnerships in the community, our telemedicine program, and vaccines for homebound Central Vermonters.
