Honoring Judy Peterson on Her Retirement

Judy Peterson retires on January 15, 2021 as CEO of UVM Health Network Home Health & Hospice after 40 years in home health care. Judy worked at CVHHH for 27 years and served as CVHHH’s CEO from 2007 to 2012. Sandy Rousse, CVHHH’s CEO, wrote the following message honoring Judy’s career and accomplishments.

I knew Judy Peterson through mutual friends who worked at CVHHH. Also, we both lived in Barre with our families. Our professional paths crossed in 1998 when I joined CVHHH’s Board of Directors, and our relationship deepened over the fourteen years we worked together at CVHHH. Under Judy’s direction, before CVHHH was formed by the merger of Central Vermont Home Health Agency and Waterbury Public Health Association, CVHHH grew from a small organization where the Board Treasurer maintained the agency’s finances to a multi-program, full-service VNA with a multimillion-dollar budget serving 23 communities in Central Vermont. I saw first-hand the significant contributions Judy made to CVHHH, to our community, and to the VNA system in Vermont.

Judy was trained as a nurse, which was evident in her leadership style. She put the needs of staff and the community first. She fostered relationships with employees and supported their needs for development and career advancement. Judy loves home health and understands the critical role it plays in the broader healthcare sphere.

Judy paid careful attention to how developments in care models and standards impacted clients and the community. She was a forward thinking leader whose compassion was matched by her appreciation for innovation. Judy helped to shape CVHHH into the home care leader it is today. We will always look back fondly on her tenure here. On behalf of the Board of Directors and CVHHH’s employees past and present, I want to acknowledge Judy’s contributions and thank her for her decades of service.
