Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) is proud to recognize Dr. Anthony “Tony” Williams as its Community Partner of the Year. Every year, CVHHH names an individual, family, or local business as its Community Partner for going above and beyond to support its mission and work.

Dr. Williams attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis before relocating to Vermont to “hang up his shingle” at Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC). In 2010, Dr. Williams joined the UVMHN-CVMC primary care practice on Granger Road before moving to the Adult Primary Care Practice on South Barre Road, which has been his professional home for over a decade.

Reflecting on his 40-year career, Dr. Williams says he loves the one-on-one interaction with his patients. “It is still the one thing that has not changed. I have to take care of the person in front of me. This brings me joy.” Dr. Williams retires from his role in August.

Dr. Williams became CVHHH’s Home Health Medical Director in March of 2013. This volunteer role provides oversight developing and implementing CVHHH’s quality assurance program and clinical guidance to CVHHH staff and champions CVHHH’s work in the community.

Dr. Williams praised CVHHH for doing high-quality work. “CVHHH provides a critical service to keep people healthy during the transition home,” he says. “Patients are happy with CVHHH’s care. The whole idea of keeping people out of the hospital and all the work this organization has done minimizing readmissions is a big deal.”

“Tony knows our work well and the efforts we make each day to care for patients in their homes,” says Kim LaGue, PT, CVHHH’s Chief Operating Officer. “He has collaborated with us on clinician trainings and has been there if we needed an advocate in the community. We have relied on Tony, who has been a go-to and was a huge support for us in our efforts to navigate serving our community during the pandemic. We will miss having Tony in this role and wish him all the best.”
