We relied on the support of about 110 volunteers in 2021. These Central Vermonters gave their time, ideas, and, in some cases, their voices, to enrich the lives of CVHHH patients and to help organize events, fundraise, do work in the office, and provide strategic oversight. We could not do our work without our volunteers! Meet two of our volunteers, below.
Vicki Gauthier | Foot-Care Clinic Volunteer
Vicki’s husband, Tim Gauthier, RN, provides foot-care at our public foot-care clinics in and round Central Vermont. When a spot opened up for volunteer support, Tim asked Vicki, a retired elementary school music teacher, if she was interested. Vicki agreed. “I thought it would be a way to be useful,” said Vicki. She says that she had not previously understand the full importance of the foot-care clinics. Vicki loves the people. “They have so much to share and they have a lot of wisdom. I look forward to clinic days.”

Mary Larsen, RN | Hospice Volunteer
Mary Larsen (pictured with her horses at home in Moretown) knew that she would become a hospice volunteer when she retired from her job as a hospice nurse at CVHHH. Working as a hospice nurse, Mary saw first-hand the important role hospice volunteers play, offering respite to a person’s caregivers or running errands. “It seems like a really easy thing to do,” said Mary, who shared that being a hospice volunteer requires being open, helpful, and nonjudgmental when you go into a home. “I love that. As a volunteer, I want just to be there, do whatever is needed.”
