My Dad, My Reason for Working at CVHHH as a Personal Care Attendant

Aliyah Watt was inspired to get into the healthcare field as a Personal Care Attendant, or PCA, because of her father, Craig (pictured with Aliyah), who got sick when she was in the fifth grade. “I helped my mom take care of him as his condition worsened,” she says. “I knew that I wanted to do work that brought smiles to people’s faces.”

Aliyah says that she loves working as a Personal Care Attendant at CVHHH because she loves working with people. And she loves helping them, even if it’s just by doing their dishes, making them lunch, or sitting and talking with them.

Aliyah recognizes that every client has a different story to share. “Every person’s circumstances, like every person, is unique, and I like that.”

Aliyah says that the best part of her job is knowing that she did something to help a person feel safe and comfortable in their own home.

We are committed to supporting all of our staff. This is why we raised our minimum wage in 2021 to $15/hour. All PCAs, regardless of experience, will earn $15/hour as a starting wage. Other benefits apply, including access to tuition reimbursement support and earned time off.
