Tom Beardsley, WDEV Radio Veteran, Tells Us Why He Supports CVHHH

You may know Tom Beardsley from his 30 years at WDEV-FM and AM. Or, you may have encountered him out and about in central Vermont. Tom is a longtime Duxbury resident and an active member of St. Andrew Church in Waterbury. We recently sat down with Tom to talk about his experiences with Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice and his decision to serve as Guest Auctioneer at this year’s Seasons of Life Fashion Show on October 21.

Tom has had two personal experiences with CVHHH, first when his father was terminally ill and, second, more recently, when his wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

“The two nurses who came and talked to me and cared for me and Mary, my wife, were so supportive, so knowledgeable, and very professional. I was alone in our house taking care of Mary during the final weeks of her life. Between the medications and everything else that I was dealing with, I was terrified that I’d do something wrong and would not give Mary the care she needed. Our nurses were so empathetic to my needs and obviously cared a great deal about our emotions. It was clear that there was someone there to support and guide me to deal with a very traumatic situation.”

When Dan Pudvah, our Development Director and a personal friend of Tom’s, approached Tom about supporting Seasons of Life, Tom knew that he wanted to do anything he could. When we learned that Tom is an experienced auctioneer, we were thrilled. With his perfect-for-radio voice, gift for gab, generosity, and stellar reputation, we are very excited to welcome Tom as the Guest Auctioneer for the event.
