Meet Maureen

This is Maureen Dalton. Over a three-month period, Maureen became very sick. After contracting pneumonia, she developed fluid in her lungs, had to be induced into a coma, required a tracheotomy, and spent over 5 weeks in intensive care at three hospitals in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Needless to say, she went through a lot.

When we visited Maureen at her home in South Barre, she was excited to talk to us and to show us how far she had come in her recovery. By the end of our visit, Maureen, a karaoke enthusiast, demonstrated her singing skills with a rendition of “I’ve Got a Tiger by the Tail” by Buck Owens.

Every year, we care for over 2,500 central Vermonters just like Maureen in the privacy and comfort of home. Our nurses, therapists, social workers, and other staff, are committed and compassionate and help people regain their physical and emotional strength. As Maureen says, the care that CVHHH provided helped her regain her sense of self, her “spirit, and her independence.

We are honored to be a part of this community and to work with individuals like Maureen. We rely on the generous support of our donors to care for the countless individuals who are uninsured or for whom insurance does not cover the full cost of care.
