Allison Jones, RN, Named January Above & Beyond Winner

We are pleased to announce that Allison Jones, RN, Team A Visiting Clinician, has been named our first Above & Beyond Award winner for 2018. CVHHH gives out the Award monthly to celebrate the outstanding work of one employee on behalf of CVHHH staff, the agency, or the central Vermont community.

Allison joined CVHHH almost seven years ago as a Personal Care Attendant, or PCA. After Allison earned her RN license, she took on additional responsibilities as our Health Promotions RN, overseeing and coordinating public foot care, flu, and International Travel Health clinics. In 2017, Allison transitioned to her current role as a home health visiting clinician.

Allison, who was born in Alaska and grew up in Waterbury, became interested in nursing as a high school sophomore. “I realized how much I liked biology and the sciences,” she says. “I volunteered in the Women & Children’s Unit (at UVMHN-CVMC) Saturdays during my junior and senior years of high school and thought I would pursue labor and delivery nursing. Through college, however, I realized that I got along really well with people who were, at the time, closer in age to my parents and grandparents. I have found my work as a home health visiting nurse to be such a natural fit for me.”

Allison was nominated by a number of her colleagues. Sarah Sadowsky, one of our social workers, commented on Allison’s committment to her clients: “She is extremely invested in her patients, and she leaves no stone unturned.” Bridget Chatterley, Telehealth RN, said that Allison is “always attentive, listening, good-natured, smiling, and supportive.”

Allison graduated from University of Vermont. When she is not working with clients, Allison enjoys teaching Zumba and is always ready to try new things and take a risk!
